Look at this cute quilt label. I made a Irish chain quilt for my best friend who is moving out of state. I wanted to do something special on the label and decided on a heart patch with hand embroidering. 1-Make a heart block. (I used this printable from Cluck Cluck Sew and made my block finish at 6 inches.) 2-Cut a piece of the background fabric the same size as you heart block. (Mine was 6.5 inches) 3-Sew these pieces right sides together and leave an opening to turn. 4-Turn and iron. 5- OPTIONAL: Decide what to hand stitch and what to machine stitch. (I only hand sewed "Olivia" and Emily".) 6-Machine stitch. 7-Use a heat/water/air erasable pen to mark where to hand stitch. (You can see this in the above picture.) 8-Now it is time to hand sew. I used a embroidery back stitch using perele cotton 8. 9-OPTIONAL: Use a piece of fusible interfacing to attach your label to your quilt. 10-Hand sew your label to your quilt. I used big hand stitching but you could totally use a thinner thread and whip stitch it on. @suzyquilts has a great highlight on big stitch binding. On her website, she has a post with tons of info on hand stitching and what supplies you need. Bye for now, Emily
